Celebrity Interview Project

These are the project requirements given to the students in mid October, 1998.

By Jennifer Van Winkle

You may choose any celebrity you would like. However, this celebrity should be, in some way, a role model. It is best to have a United States address for ease of mailing. I expect no less than 20 sensible questions with equally sensible answers. Enjoy the Internet, but make good use of your time. You understand your access privileges so there shouldnt be any problems.

  • Due date: November 13th by 4:00 pm
  • Cover Page: Complete with creative title, student's name, the celebrity's name and decorative cover. This part of the project may be completed at home. There are no restrictions for this element.
  • Total Quantity: 20 questions (typed, single-spaced, but double-spaced between speakers )
  • Font: Avant Garde, 14 point or less (title page may be in any font, any size)
  • Margins: 1 inch
  • Sources: 3 different web sites and 2 sources other than Internet - minimum
  • Bibliography: Must include all sources in proper format.
  • Celebrity Address: Complete address attached with post-it note.

Be sure your questions are not so simple that your final project simply becomes an elaborate fact file. Ask questions to which you would really like to know the answers. Questions dealing with age, eye color, favorite food, or most enjoyable hobby are NOT examples of good, probing questions. That is general information that one can find in almost any magazine. Try to dig deep. Remember that the Internet is only one place to find information. There are many other possible resources. The following schedule will give you an idea as to what time you will have to make outside of class to finish your project before the due date. Happy hunting!!

Timeline for Students to Follow
  • Oct. 19          introduction/explanation
  • Oct. 20          Mrs. Hehnke in to discuss searching tips
  • Oct. 21          work in class
  • Oct. 26-30    search and compose
  • Nov. 2-6        search/type rough draft/ cover page

  • Nov. 11          rough draft due

If you use your time constructively, you shouldnt have any problems meeting the deadline. Due to absences, unsuccessful searches, computer glitches, etc., you may need to put in extra time. Extensions of any kind are RARE. You may get a pass from your teacher to work on the Internet during team time, after school, during other classes or other times that have been pre-arranged. The east lab will be open from 7:30 am until 4:00 pm for your convenience, however you need to get a pass in order to work at those times. It is your responsibility to ask!!!

All typing for this project must be completed at school!
