Sharon Kenagy

My initial teaching career began in self-contained elementary classrooms, then departmental junior high classes. Technology began creeping in, and with the help of my then eighth grade son, I allowed the second graders to use some drill and practice programs. By the time I was teaching junior high students, there was a quest to integrate more subject matter into concrete learning situations.

Now, as the learner, I was managing the network, hardware, and software and assisting teachers with ways to incorporate technology into their curriculums. As an educator, my emphasis is to instill a love of learning, and, while guiding children through projects and programs, it becomes evident to me that we never stop growing and learning. Continuing technology advances afford us boundless opportunities to channel and grow our students' creativity, ideas, and expressions.

This summer, students are authoring their own Web pages exploring creative ways to express ideas, including digital photography and animation.

My life is made complete by a partner and spouse, Gary, three children, and three grandchildren getting ready to enter the new thresholds we are creating.
