grew up
in Robbins, Illinois, a southwest suburb of Chicago. I am the
daughter of a Baptist minister who is a retired teacher / school
administrator. I guess you could say that schools, museums, planetariums and
aquariums were my playground. I earned a B.S. in Mathematical Sciences/Statistics
from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond Virginia and I
have completed my coursework towards a M.S. in Mathematics at Prairie View
A&M University in Texas. I am currently pursuing a doctoral degree at Texas A&M
University, in Educational Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization
in Educational Technology.
I have had the unique opportunity to work at Jones Intermediate School in
Waller ISD, Waller, TX, as a sixth-grade mathematics teacher, a teacher of the gifted and
talented, and a technology coordinator for the past four years. Much of my
professional growth is due to the rich and empowering experiences that I
have had as a teacher and technology coordinator at Jones. Although I am
only at the beginning of my professional journey, the success that I have
experienced at Jones has been awesome. As a mathematics teacher, I was able
to see firsthand how implementing effective teaching strategies can impact
student learning.
Just recently, I began working in the College of Education at Texas A&M
University. I am the SCR*TEC-Texas Project Coordinator. I am very excited
about working with educators from all over the state.
